The Hollidaysburg Area Community Partnership Board of Directors held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the Hollidaysburg Area School District Administration Building.
New President Bob Gildea called the meeting to order. The board had several matters needing immediate attention. One was working on a new web page to promote community events as the old web page is not functioning and needs to be redone. There are two major events which the Partnership handles on its own: the Springfest downtown and the Family Fun Day at Canal Basin Park. The partnership members are hopeful to be able to hold both of these events in 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the partnership is offering free memberships for anyone wanting to join in 2021. That would include businesses in the area, non-profit entities, and family and individual memberships.
The board discussed its goals for the upcoming year. Goals include defining benefits for all new members joining, actively supporting Hollidaysburg business events, defining a volunteer base with a formal list, increasing awareness by the general public of the partnership, and encouraging collaboration with other community groups.
Although the website is not functioning, the Community Partnership still has an active Facebook page which is regularly updated with upcoming Hollidaysburg community and business events.
Secretary Michael Eardley said that the partnership board needs a chairperson for the Program and Development Committee and the Membership Committee.
The partnership board is also considering holding remote meetings via Zoom software to get more members involved and kept up to date on the partnership's activities. It was noted that Pam Jones will now be handling all treasury matters for the partnership board.
Meeting dates for the year were set and all meetings will be scheduled for the second Wednesday of each month. The next meeting has been slated for Wednesday, Feb. 10. Until further notice, all meetings will be held at the Hollidaysburg Area School District Administration Building with an optional Zoom link.
