Hollidaysburg School District Committee of the Whole Votes to Raise Property Taxes

The Hollidaysburg Area School District Board of Directors voted by a 5-4 margin to raise property taxes from 9.0961 millage to 9.432 millage at their June committee of the whole/voting meeting. This represents a .3365 millage increase, the maximum allowed by the Act 1 Index. It represents $58 more in taxes annually for a home of $168,000 value.

The final budget for the School District General Fund adopted by the board represented $50,592,555 in revenues and $52,529,873 in expenditures for the 2021-22 school year. The district went into the budgeting process with a $3 million deficit. Eve...
